Although no proof has surfaced on Marissa Nadler’s ancient ancestry, the 29-year-old Bostonian has all the characteristics of the mythical Siren… with the exception of the various bird parts. The dream-folk songstress possesses long, flowing hair, classic beauty, a lush, emotive voice, and crafts songs with equal parts pain and sweetness.

Following a successful Kickstarter funding campaign, Nadler recorded her forthcoming full-length during a three week time frame during late January in Philadelphia with the assistance of Brian McTear and a whole slew of her nearest and dearest friends (via The Stark Online). The album’s first single, “Baby I Will Leave You in The Morning”, exemplifies Nadler’s bittersweet writing style, “Baby you need to forgive me, been a sinner all my life you see. I am getting higher by the moment, days too long and nights too cold in song”. The track is available below for your auditory pleasure.

Marissa Nadler will be available June 14th via Box on Cedars records, and is currently available for pre-order in either CD of vinyl. According to Nadler’s blog, the inital recording process resulted in enough material for an addition EP that will arrive some time in either spring or summer.
