While overzealous idolaters would probably jump at the chance to get cozy with Cash Money Records’ own version of Superman, Weezy was actually talking about heading to iTunes or the record store to spend two-hours of minimum wage on a copy of his long-awaited ninth studio LP, Tha Carter IV, which he confirmed will be released on May 16th.
He already got juices flowing with the album’s über-catchy/borderline-annoying lead single, but DeWayne added fuel to the fire last night when he declared that the album was completely finished and that all that was preventing it from being released was his manager, Cortez Bryant. “Tha Carter IV is done,” he told MTV News, “All they need to do I tell [Bryant] to stop sitting on it – it can come out tomorrow ‘cause I am so finished.”
Two months may seem like a long time to wait when considering how bad Wayne’s fans (and haters) want to hear the album, but if torrent rats have anything to do with it, then the album will be leaked in a few weeks, resulting in another early release á la I Am Not A Human Being. In the meantime, enjoy your green beer.
