It took a month or so, but the promotional campaign behind Radiohead‘s The King of Limbs is beginning to ramp up. Monday, March 28th (Tuesday, March 29th in the U.S.) marks the physical release date of the band’s eighth LP and to commemorate the occasion, the band is publishing its own newspaper. The Universal Sigh, as it’s called, will be “given away, free, gratis, without cost to the consumer by accredited vendors from a multitude of locations worldwide,” according to the newspaper’s newly launched website. Distribution will begin at mid-day of the respective release date and will run while supplies last.
The band cautioned that this newspaper is neither the one that accompanies the May 9th release of the album’s newspaper edition, nor is it a live performance.
Among the locations where the newspaper will be available include the U.S., U.K., Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Ireland, France, Italy, Slovakia, Finland, Greece, Norway, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Australia, Latvia, Iceland, Romania, and New Zealand. More specific addresses are listed on the website.
Details regarding the newspaper’s actual content remain forthcoming, but an eBay listing for a leaked copy noted the inclusion of 12 pages and a coupon with a unique code. Currently, the newspaper’s website only offers details on nearest vendors, as well as the promise for a gallery where photos of lucky recipients will be posted.
