Rhianna brings J. Cole along for North American tour

on March 28, 2011, 11:30am

Last month, Rihanna announced a massive world-tour to support her latest platinum-selling release, Loud. Now two Twitter accounts (and The Boom Box) have confirmed who will accompany the “S&M” singer throughout her North American dates: rising star J. Cole. He joins previously announced tour-mate Cee-Lo, who joins Rihanna on select dates.

J. Cole only recently returned from touring with Drake in Europe, and Ms. Rihanna Fenty-Kaye (wishful thinking?) just showed Australia how she does. The two will begin their cross-continental trek beginning in Baltimore on June 4th. They’ll head into Canada for Toronto, Kanata, and Montreal dates, dip back into the States through Milwaukee, Chicago, and Minneapolis, then once more into the North before hitting pretty much every major American market. Following their July 24th show in Boston, Rihanna will complete her “Loud” tour in Europe.

The news of J. Cole’s inclusion on the tour comes amidst rumors of slow ticket sales. Word is they’ve been so bad that some dates are on track to be canceled, much as dates were nixed during last years “Last Girl on Earth” tour, eventually leading to Rihanna changing management. LiveNation disputes those reports, however, saying tickets are heading towards selling out.

If the rumors are true, maybe having a fellow Roc Nation newcomer like J. Cole on board can save the sinking ship. Both artists will play festivals this summer, as well: J. Cole will visit Bonnaroo, while Rhianna plays Norway’s Bergen Calling, England’s V Festival and Brazil’s Rock in Rio. See Rihanna’s enormous tour schedule below. Tickets are available through SeatGeek.
