To celebrate the release of their newest box set, Old School: 1964-1974, Alice Cooper (the man and the band) will be headlining the upcoming “Jägermeister Ice Cold Event” at the Battersea Power Station located in South London.The May 11th performance will be the first since 1972 to “feature” the surviving original members all together overseas. Take notice of the quotation marks, because Cooper, Dennis Dunaway (bass), Neal Smith (drums), Michael Bruce (rhythm guitar), and Steve Hunter, standing-in for the late Glen Buxton on guitar, will be approximately 5500 miles away from the Battersea stage as the evening launches.

Billed as “UK’s first holographic 4D rock gig”, the performance will be shot in a Hollywood studio and beamed onto the eight-meter Battersea stage. The performance will be presented using V-Depth, the very latest holographic system, and according to the London Evening Standard, the audience will perceive the show as if it were happening right in front of them. 4D elements of the show will include the audience being showered with balloons and feathers, and icy blasts chilling the crowd as holographic snow falls on stage.

Cooper, with the help of friend Salvador Dali, first explored the use of holograms back in 1973, so the showman remains optimistic about the upcoming performance. “We couldn’t resist this,” says Cooper via press release, “working with Jägermeister to appear as holograms on the other side of the Atlantic is the ultimate experience, a cutting-edge conjuring trick that celebrates the future and our history. We can’t wait to see the results.” However, the band isn’t expecting fans to shell out hundreds of dollars for the show; in fact, only 800 exclusive tickets are available and they must be won via Jägermeister’s UK Facebook page, which isn’t acccessible to US fans.

The previously mentioned box set, Old School: 1964-1974, will be released June 6th and can be pre-ordered here. Coming in at $260, the set includes 4 CDs with exclusive demos and rarities, a DVD with over 2 hours of candid interviews, a 12″ bootleg vinyl of a 1971 St. Louis performance, a 7″ replica of a super-rare Nazz (the band that would become Alice Cooper) vinyl, and 5 will arrive with a ticket to a VIP concert/meet-and-greet with Cooper himself.
