Punk, metal, and country all having touring music festivals, and now the electronic music genre does too. Billed as the “first-ever touring electronic ONLY music festival,” Identity will visit 20 major outdoor amphitheatres throughout North America in August and September.

Disco Biscuits, Pretty Lights, Kaskade, DJ Shadow, Steve Aoki, and Avicii top the inaugural bill, while other highlights include The Crystal Method, Modeselektor, Booka Shade, Nero, Pete Tong, Erol Alkan, and Holy Ghost!.

Rounding out the lineup are Skrillex, Chuckie, Datsik, N.E.R.D.’s Chad Hugo, Aeroplane, LA Riots, Doorly, Nervo, White Shadow, Jessie and the Toys, and The Eyes.

Specific markets and shows will be announced in May with the artists performing at each date to be unveiled soon.

Ditto on the Big Top Tour back in 1997. I went. It was great.

All the Disco Biscuit’s ARE FAR FROM ALL ELECTRONIC, FAR FROM IT, and they still SUCK.

You must have gotten custied on lot. Don’t hate, you know they are very talented. Yes very far from electronica, they are a jam band.

Maybe they forgot, or this was way before their time, but it’s surely not the “first-ever touring electronic ONLY music festival,”. We had the Big Top Tour back in 1997. You could argue that if you took that lineup from 1997, and had it in 2011 it is better then the lineup for this festival tour. With that said, if this hits my area, I’d most likely go as well.

I don’t care if it’s a punk, metal, country or an electronic festival… Someone needs to just put a leash on these things. It’s cool to have more options, but it’s like a new one sprouts up each day whether it be touring or multi-day. Today’s IDENTITY Festival is tomorrow’s H.O.R.D.E. Tour.
