My Morning Jacket announces YouTube webcast

Many bands tend to celebrate a new record with a hometown concert on the evening of its release date. On May 31st, the boys of My Morning Jacket will be doing just that as they’ll champion their latest LP, Circuital, with a performance at the Louisville Palace Theater in Louisville, KY. However, the gig won’t just be limited to the folks within the 2,700-person capacity theater — as part of the latest installment of YouTube’s Unstaged webcast series, the entire concert will be streamed live online.

The webcast will be directed by Todd Haynes, whose IMDB résumé includes such films as I’m Not There and Far from Heaven. MMJ frontman Jim James previously teamed up with Haynes in I’m Not There, where he performed a version of “Goin’ to Acapulco”.

Above, you can watch a tease trailer for the webcast featuring James.

For those unfamiliar with Unstaged, the series has previously featured collaborations between Terry Gilliam and Arcade Fire, Spike Lee, The Roots and John Legend, and David Lynch and Duran Duran.
