Pete Doherty sentenced to six months in prison
Peter Doherty, the
former frontman of UK rock band
The Libertines, has been sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to cocaine possession, reports the
Associated Press. The 32-year-old musician, who has a
long history of legal problems, was arrested in January following the death of Robin Whitehead at party in London. Doherty was suspected of supplying drugs to Whitehead.
Since his first arrest in 2003, Doherty has largely been able to avoid jail time, with 14 weeks being his longest stint prior to today’s sentencing.
