Dubbed “Reflections”, the two nights — May 31st and June 1st, specifically — will see frontman Robert Smith accompanied by longtime bassist Simon Gallup, who joined in 1979 after replacing Michael Dempsey, and drummer Jason Cooper, who’s worked with Smith since he joined in 1995. Tolhurst will hop on stage during performances of Seventeen Seconds and Faith. He might not be the only familiar face on stage, as Slicing Up Eyeballs reports, rumors have circulated that keyboardist Roger O’Donnell might join the fun, as well, pointing to a few recent Cure-related tweets. So, there’s that.
No formal announcement by Smith has been made; however, Sydney entrepreneur, tour promoter, and label head Stephen Pavlovic told The Sydney Morning Herald, “They were a formative part of my teenage years and it’s an absolute honour to be working with an artist who’s played such a big part of my life for a show they won’t be doing anywhere else.”
So, if you’ve been planning to hit up Australia, and you’re a closet goth, then by all means, hit up William Shatner and his Priceline people, like, now.
