Watch: Moby lights up Leno with “The Day”

on May 02, 2011, 11:15am

Moby is an interesting fella. After a brief stint in metal, the 45-year-old DJ/singer-songwriter released a free EP, but the three-track effort apparently wasn’t the only trick up his sleeve. He has since announced that his 10th studio album, Destroyed, will be released in two weeks and has pimped the hell out of its lead single, “The Day”.

A recent three-and-a-half minute video for the song features actress Heather Graham playing what Moby (whose real name is Richard Melville Hall) calls “a nurse who gets to slaughter demons”, and the whole good vs. evil theme again played out on Friday night’s edition of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Backed by a conglomerate of support personnel, clad in all-white, a black-shirted Moby strummed his way through the track on a matching black Epiphone as backup singers and a two-piece string section turned the song into an anthem.

Check it all out (via The Audio Perv) above. Those deeply moved the whole thing can pre-order Destroyed at Amazon.com and check out its full tracklist here.
