Recently, though, Verve Records gave the soundtrack a bit of a face lift with the L.A. Noire Remixed EP, which features re-interpretations by Ticklah, Midnight Sun, Dave Sitek, DJ Premier, Truth & Soul, and Moodymann. On the six-track release, Sitek, who’s best known for his multi-instrumental and production work with TV on the Radio, remixes 1944′s “Slick Chick” by Dinah Washington.
No worries for the purists, as the original track remains quite recognizable. However, Sitek re-infuses the recording with this nostalgic aural quality, using multiple digital techniques to manipulate both the horn section and Washington’s vocals. But what else would you expect from the dude who can handle the Scarlett Johansson covers of Tom Waits? Check out the remix for yourself below.
