Somehow Pepper Rabbit managed to not only write and record a sophomore full-length amidst a heavy touring schedule, but piece together a nifty little free EP as well. The 3-track release from the L.A.-based psych-poppers is yours to enjoy exclusively here at Consequence of Sound. Happy you stick to this site now, aren’t ya?

First up is the lead single of the upcoming Red Velvet Snow Ball entitled “Rose Mary Stretch”. It’s a wickedly fun tune perfect for a summer day’s drive or eve’s gathering with buds. Next is a cover of the Miniature Tigers track “Gold Skull”, remarkably faithful despite slightly different synths, a bit more percussion, and brighter stylings. The final track is a spacey demo of another new album track, “Lake House”.

Together, the tracks make a strong case for a worthy followup to last years well received Beauregard. You can listen to and download the EP using the widget below, and look out for Red Velvet Snow Ball from Kanine Records on August 9th.

The group is currently on the last leg of a tour with Givers, and they’ll continue their relentless touring schedule in September with Braids (plus tons of other acts along the way). Peep the full itinerary just ahead.

What’s with this “EXCLUSIVE” label, such an old skool and outdated label. Anybody can click to get the embed code so how can it be exclusive then? It makes you sound like a Murdoch tabloid, and that’s very unfortunate because you’re way better than that. So just drop the EXCLUSIVE BS and it will make you look a whole lot better IMO. Just my thought. I see that EXCLUSIVE gimmick more and more online, and it really annoys me. That’s something for poseurs and lamers and corporate suits that don’t have their ego in check yet. You’re one of the best, even without it. You sure as hell don’t need it, so why not just let it go.
