VHS or Beta readies first new album in four years, Diamonds and Death

Back in 2009, dance-rockers VHS or Beta said they’d be utilizing more singles than albums to release new material, saying “[Singles] give us a lot freedom as to what type of songs we want to create.” And in the time from last their LP, 2007′s Bring on the Comets, until now, they’ve done just that. But like a salmon returning to the stream they were born in order to mate, the band couldn’t resist the allure of recording their new LP Diamonds and Death, which is scheduled to hit stores on September 27th. Welcome home, lads.

The groups two creative head honchos, Craig Pfunder and Mark Palgy, both recently relocated from Louisville, KY to Brooklyn, NY. The change of scenery can be heard in the electronic music that acts as the foundation for the entire record. Leading the way in their new-found sonic exploration is the song “I Found A Reason”. The synth-driven cut, available for listening below, is the perfect summer anthem; that is, if you spend a lot of time indoors at night going nuts in dance clubs. Other tracks scheduled to be on the album include the psychedelic “Jellybean” and the larger-than-life “Breaking Bones”.

Stay tuned for a full tracklist and upcoming tour dates. Diamonds and Death hits stores September 27th via Krian Music Group/Chromosome Records.
