Check Out: Blink-182 – “Up All Night”

By Michael Roffman on July 14th, 2011 in Check Out, Hot, News

Here’s a fun fact: Blink-182′s last single dates back to 2005 and even then that was for a greatest hits compilation. No, not since 2004′s synth-heavy “Always” have we heard a genuine single from the California trio. That changes today. Finally, after a year’s worth of touring under their belt, Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker return with “Up All Night”, tearing us all back to the early ’00s, when we weren’t wearing flannel and/or the latest hip shirt from Urban Outfitters, and instead were trending Vans and/or the latest hip shirt from PacSun. Oh, nostalgia’s great, for sure, and admittedly so is this track. Too bad my mother’s a nutbar; otherwise, I’d swing by the ol’ house and grab my faded Blink T, no doubt still dangling in the closet. #regrets

Update: Blink-182′s new album will be titled Neighborhoods, and is tentatively scheduled for release on September 27th.

World premiere via KROQ.

This track is not inspiring. Where is the energy that typically comes from a Blink song? Maybe Travis spent too much time on Give the Drummer Some. Now there’s some good stuff!

  • Etown

Someone should teach you to keep your mouth shut when grown ups are talking. He’s one of the best drummers on the planet. get over yourself

  • Doug Murphy

I think they meant all of Tom’s side projects combined.

pretty good song. feels like its missing a catchy chorus, but it’s cool enough that i’ll get over it.

I would love to see them live, but I’d rather be shot in both feet than stand through My Chemical Romance.

If you’ve ever seen Blink-182 live, you wouldn’t say that. I saw them with Weezer, and left half way through their set because it was unbearable. Truly atrocious live!

    cool

    • Jacob W

I agree this sounds completely like Angels and Airwaves and NOTHING like Blink

    • josh

Dude .. just shut up …  If Angels and Airwaves was never created and they made this song then you would say this sounds like blink 182
And honestly  just listen to the music and enjoy it don’t give blink 182 shit just cause the grew up and wanted to try something new !

ZOMG IF ANGELS AND AIRWAVES WAS THE MAIN BAND AND THEY DIDN”T DO BLINK YOU’D SAY THIS SOUNDED LIKE THEM INSTEAD!!

      • Etown

your the man. keep up the positivity for blink. too many haters

That’s..different.  It feels to me like they don’t quite know what direction they want the song to go in, so they tried three different ones.
