Itching to see a new side to The Avett Brothers? The North Carolina folk rockers have done just that on their latest cut, “The Once and Future Carpenter”. The track sees the band digging deeper into their country influences, swinging away at the acoustic guitar, belting out sharp, provoking lines like, “If I live the life I’m given, I won’t be scared to die.” The group premiered the song on their episode of CMT Unplugged.
When speaking of the new song, Seth Avett said that there was a “need to present a current example of where we are, who we are,” adding, “it’s not really acceptable to only present who we’ve been.” That’s something to chew on while we await their next release.
