In the past, Australia’s own Empire of the Sun has had its share of bad luck, what with canceled shows and keeping members on board. But after finally making their U.S. debut last August, suffice it to say, things have remained pretty positive. Keeping that good fortune going, the synthpop sensation from Down Under will return stateside later this fall. Following a couple festival dates in early August, EOTS will arrive in America on September 8th for a seven-date run, including gigs at Virgin Mobile FreeFest and Austin City Limits. Miami Horror and Mayer Hawthorne & The County will provide support on various dates. Interested? Check out the entire tour schedule below.

I hate when good bands play awful venues. Seriously, the Congress Theater is a fucking dump.

I agree that Congress is a dump, no doubt, but it actually makes sense if you really think about it.  The Congress is mostly floor, and is one of the bigger, small venues in the city, which means it is very condusive to dancing.  I notice alot of electronic/pop acts play there.  Metro, Lincoln Hall, Schubas, Empty Bottle, Bottom Lounge, Double Door etc are all too small for them.  The Riv has the split levels, not good for dancing.  The Vic and Chicago theater are a little more seat oriented, also not good for dancing.  Theyre not going to play Allstate, UIC Pavilion, or Allstate cause that would be lame.  The only other venue that might work is the Aragon, but its smaller than Congress.  So, like I said, I agree the Congress is shitty, especially in the summer when its fucking 140 degrees in there, but when you break it down, it really does make sense.  I’m sure this is the reason all of the acts like Pretty Lights, Skrillex, Deadmau5 etc. etc. all play Congress.
