Amy Winehouse, the talented yet troubled English singer, has been found dead at her home in London, according to TMZ. Police confirmed that a woman matching Winehouse’s description was discovered shortly before 4:00pm local time and was pronounced dead at at the scene. Her death is being called “unexplained,” but not thought to be suspicious.

Winehouse was 27.

The recipient of five Grammy Awards for her 2006 album Back to Black, Winehouse had long struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. Just last month, Winehouse was forced to scrap a 12-date European comeback tour after she appeared heavily inebriated and unable to finish a majority of the songs during the tour’s kick-off in Belgrade, Serbia.

Her last public appearance came this past Wednesday in London, when she joined her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield on-stage during a concert the Roundhouse. You can see video of the moment below.

Coincidentally, Winehouse is among a handful of notable musicians who have died at 27, including Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Brian Jones, and Robert Johnson.

This is a developing story.

Not too shocked. She had an outstanding voice, like a modernized 1940s singer, and the lyrics which she wrote all of were solid as well. Only 2 albums though, always a shame to see someone in such a bad place. Have a feeling she’ll be included with the “27 Club”, and you know they’ll be releasing posthumous stuff she recorded but never released.

I’m not surprised due to all her issues. But the headline still got me and is quite sad to hear. She had a fantastic voice and is a shame she had all the problems she did.
