Like their video for “Regent’s Court,” The Get Up Kids have enlisted Pat Vamos to make a feature with footage from the past. Unlike that light-hearted piece though, “Rally ‘Round the Fool” is ominous and more thought-provoking. Among shots of daily life in Los Angeles, robots disguised as people are shown being constructed and walking around. Filtered in are scenes of sitting in traffic, moving under florescent-lighted supermarkets, and the production of pills. Commentary on how humanity is burying its emotional center under conformity? Yeah, we’d say that’s a little more serious than a day with Mikhail Gorbachev.
