Video: The Cars – “Free”

By Chris Coplan on July 27th, 2011 in News, Video

Prior to this year’s Move Like This, The Cars‘ last album was 1987′s Door to Door. Back then, music videos involved Mötley Crüe at a strip club or an overly dramatic Madonna. And while things have thankfully changed for the better, the band are continuing to keep it simple with the basic “life on the road/concert footage” concept for the music video for “Free”. Shot during the band’s recent 11-date North American tour, the clip sees Ric Ocasek and the boys doing what they put off for nearly a quarter of a century: rocking out on stage. like they never left, kinda rare these days to see music performed like this, I suppose it would be
alien to kids these days, media tells everyone what they should/shouldn’t like, or if the fans voted for a band to be sucessful enough to record, strange times for me, not for those that are into it all but I remember a very different carefree time when music videos let us to the talents, and before that getting out and performing your stuff until it got noticed,  hit or miss great song and simple road video.  Great to have this one of kind band back doing what they do best!
