Nowadays, nearly everyone with a keyboard or guitar has a recording on YouTube. The video quality is usually poor since they can’t exactly afford professional equipment. Unfortunately, the amount of these films are so numerous that it’s nearly impossible to sift through them. In the case of Loney dear, he transforms this very simple level of recording by adding in layers of animation. Little notes and lines appear for each note hit on his piano and every line he sings. By the end of “Young Hearts,” a beautiful mural of melody has been created.
Loney Dear is preparing a small run of solo acoustic performances this November following the Oct. 4 release of his new album, Hall Music. He’ll also return to North America in early 2012 for a tour featuring a full live band.
