Cut-out animation is difficult to use effectively. Each different frame requires you to rearrange the cut-outs with your hands before recording again for another couple of seconds. To get a decent video that’s even half-a-minute is tough. This makes Sufjan Stevens’ five-minute animated video for “Get Real, Get Right” even more impressive. Not only is it put together well, it also features as many strange things as he could fit onscreen. Everything from UFOs to fighter jets to monster attacks are thrown into the colorful mix.
