Video: The Strokes & Jarvis Cocker cover The Cars

By Alex Young on August 28th, 2011 in News, Video

The Strokes are not necessarily known for their improvisation, but the NYC-based indie icons sure do love their surprise guests. Jack White’s guest appearance at Radio City Music Hall in 2002 remains one of the best YouTube clips you’ll ever see, and Elvis Costello joined the band at Madison Square Garden earlier this year. For their latest on-stage surprise, at the UK-based Reading Music Festival on Saturday, The Strokes brought out Pulp frontman and fellow indie-rock innovator Jarvis Cocker for a cover of The Cars’ “Just What I Needed”. We have the video available for your viewing below.

    Which JC?

That was actually decent. Now all they need is JC Chasez  to join them onstage and they can form the JC band.
Reading fest is known for stunt guest spots. I love that Pulp got former member, Richard Hawley to join them considering they already got adhoc member, Leo Abrahams. I’m more surprised by that than Queen’s Brian May joining My Chemical Romance.
