Uh oh, here’s another addition to this year’s holiday shopping list. On November 21st, The Rolling Stones will reissue their 1978 album, Some Girls, reports Rolling Stone. Featuring hits “Miss You” and “Shattered”, the group’s 16th studio album remains their most profitable effort in the U.S., having been certified six times platinum by the RIAA. Big stuff, eh?
Big plans for this release, too. In addition to being remastered, the new reissue – rolled out in digital, Deluxe, and Super-Deluxe editions – will feature new packaging, liner notes by Rolling Stone writer Anthony DeCurtis, and unseen photographs of the era by Helmut Newton. Those who opt for the Super-Deluxe edition will also receive a special 7″ single of “Beast of Burden”, which will sport its original banned sleeve art.
That shouldn’t be all, either. Recently, frontman Mick Jagger hinted to Spinner that he completed “all the outtakes”, saying, “We did Exile, we did a lot of different takes, a lot of different cuts that hadn’t come out before, so we’re doing the similar kind of thing with Some Girls, so I’ve just been doing them because a lot of them weren’t complete, so I had to complete them, and then we’re gonna mix those and put them out for Thanksgiving.”
A man true to his word, seeing as both the “whip” and the album comes down November 21st. Check out for stream of the aforementioned “Beast Of Burden” below:
