This week, Bush’s Gavin Rossdale digressed to Consequence of Sound about living around Los Angeles. In short, he loves it. He says, “In Los Angeles, if you’re crossing the street, you can easily say hello to someone – hello, good morning, it doesn’t matter.” In the new video for “The Sound of Winter”, one of the stronger cuts off their latest LP, The Sea of Memories, Rossdale puts those words to life. Although it starts out grunge-y and bleak – nearly mirroring Coldplay’s “Yellow”, come to think of it – it unfolds into a blissful summer party, complete with jamming, shooting some pool, and strumming away for bikini-clad hipsters. There’s something inherently American to it all, which also goes along with Rossdale’s assertion that they’re no longer a UK export, but rather something “global.” Hmm, looks like a group of California boys having fun to me.
The Sea of Memories hits stores September 13th via Zuma Rock.
