And just when you thought you’d let “1901” sit out for awhile, the French pop/rock tour-de-force decides to strike again. Chronicling the ensuing chaos following their 2009 breakthrough LP Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, Phoenix will release From a Mess to the Masses, a documentary that promises an “in the footsteps” glimpse both onstage and behind the scenes (via 24bit).

Directed by Sorriano Franciso and Antoine Wagner, the film compiles footage gathered by Wagner, who accompanied the band for an entire year (in addition to being responsible for the group’s music video for “Lisztomania”). The documentary will air on October 13th in France and Germany via Arte television. A U.S. release date has not been solidified, but its release in the aforementioned countries should be a beacon of hope. Check out the trailer below.
