As we reported last Friday, rapper Kid Cudi really wants to follow in the footsteps of Lil Wayne and release his very own rock album. And it’s not just talk either. As RapRadar points out, the first track from Cudi’s rock-centric collaboration with producer Dot Da Genius (together they’re known as W Z R D) has hit the web. Titled “Brake”, the track is a stoner-rock cruncher straight out of the 70s, with heavy riffs, pounding drums, and a flute providing the soundtrack for Cudi’s laidback vocals. Check it out below.

W Z R D’s self-titled debut is set to drop on Cudi’s birthday (January 30th). Stay tuned for more.

Hi, my name is Ty Gonzalez, and it came to my attention that this website had posted an article for the new WZRD single ‘Brake’ with an album cover for the upcoming untitled WZRD album. The thing is, I made that cover, along with another one, and posted it on the kanyetothe.com forums. My username on there is Iron Fist. Here is the thread in which I posted the two covers:http://www.kanyetothe.com/forum/index.php?topic=147310.msg5680046#msg5680046
If credit could be given to myself for the artwork, it would be much appreciated. You can contact me at my email, tygnzlz@gmail.com.
    Thank you,
    Ty

Heavy Riffs? Pounding drums? I listened to the song 3 times and didn’t hear those once. Stoner Rock, yes…good song? Debatable.
