As Matablog points out, there’s a whole lot going on in the world of Fucked Up. Having already revealed two albums in 2011, including their third LP David Comes to Life and the Record Store Day compilation David’s Town, the Toronto hardcore rockers have announced two new singles: a split holiday 7″ with Toronto alt-rock band Sloan and the long-awaited “Year of the Tiger” 12″
According to Matador, the split holiday 7″ will “hopefully” be available at Fucked Up’s December 20th show in Toronto, where the band will be playing David Comes to Life in its entirety. According to Exclaim, Sloan contributes a cover of “12 Days of Christmas”, while we can reveal that Fucked Up recorded a rendition of “Jingle Bells”. The single, limited to just 500 copies, will benefit the COUNTERfit Harm Reduction Program and the Barriere Lake Legal Defense Fund.
Then, on February 21st via Matador, Fucked Up will release the long-awaited “Year of the Tiger” 12″ from their ongoing Chinese Zodiac singles series. Described by the band as “honestly one of the best things we’ve ever done,” the track spans some 15 minutes and features acclaimed filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, Austra, and Annie-Claude Deschênes of Duchess Says. A portion of the single’s proceeds will go to the Save the Tiger fund. Pre-orders are now ongoing via Matador’s online store.
If that weren’t enough, Fucked Up has also revealed a new music video for “Turn The Season” from David Comes to Life. Watch it below (via SPIN). And tonight, the band will appear on Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations Holiday Special. Tune into that at 10/9 c on the Travel Channel.
