“You never know the weight of your crimes

But when all the gates have closed and you’re tired

You stand a while by the fire

    And it burns bright

A while, a while, you sit quiet”

Everytime we’re going through a hard time whether it’s with our relationship or with life in general, a special someone always sends me a link to this song and reminds me of the serenity in just being at peace with oneself. So this is more for that special someone than myself, because every time I listen to this song I’m reminded of how important it is to reflect on the importance of every situation..or rather how important it is to realize the value of every given moment and not waste it on being upset about things that don’t matter. It doesn’t matter if we’re 400 miles away because this song allows us to share a moment of serenity together, the song has become what we made it to be, and it’s became a moment in time we get to relive everytime we listen to it toegether

“Everybody holds on to somethingAnd you can’t hide me…”

I love these lines because it represents the very core of human nature. At some point, we all try to cover up the dirty little secrets of our past. We hide things and attempt to convince ourselves that they never happened. Ironically, those somewhat unpleasant things that have occured in our past make us the awesome people we are in the present. Truth always comes to light. We should embrace our mistakes and misfortunes because we can’t hide them anyway! Truth always radiates.

    “After leaving your apartment
    I hear the coast…”

I love this line because to me it means breaking apart from something or someone, but feeling okay and free after doing so. It reminds me that there are always new opportunities out there.

Cough Syrup was the first song I heard from them…and my fav parts of the lyrics are..

Life’s too short to even care at all oh

I’m losing my mind losing my mind losing control…….

If I could find a way to see this straight

    I’d run away

To some fortune that I should have found by now.

Talk to the light, you’ll be colored so bright
Behind the wheel, they stalk over the drill sirens
Open your mouth behind shades of
Waking in fire and dreaming in
Holding the night behind straight corn and papyrus
    Holding by luscious
    Stares that you gave us
Waiting for strength behind locks in the fire
Wait for the love that you said would inspire

I love that verse. It’s amazing.

So difficult to choose a favourite lyric. But, I pick “Garands” lyric. Showing the enlightenment that love is through strong words along the lyric.
“Lost my rights when I was young taken by the ones I trust long before I knew of love”
Definitely one of the most powerful song of the album. Amazin’!
