Mr. Dream announces new EP: Fatherland

By Michael Roffman on December 19th, 2011 in News

Before the year tears down, Brooklyn garage rockers Mr. Dream have announced that they will hit the studio next week to knock out a new EP, titled Fatherland. While’s it’s unclear if the title is an ode to Robert Harris’ 1992 novel of the same name, the band did go on to confirm that it’ll be out “around” February 28th and there will be a limited supply of 12″ vinyls sold at their forthcoming West coast dates with the Cloud Nothings (see below). They also don’t know whether it’ll be five or six tracks long. Yeah, we’ll let the band explain it:

the songs are weirder and darker, more in the vein of stuff like “trash hit”, “learn the language”, “moneybags”, and “scarred for life”. sexier and woozier than that sounds though. production-wise i’ve changed my entire setup since ‘trash hit’, from pres to mics to converters to outboard to monitors. adam has a new guitar rig, courtesy of our patron saint chris ott. we’re also just a lot better at this shit than we were a year ago.

Check out the tentative tracklist below. Fans should already notice a few of the tracks – “What a Mess”, “Palace Complex”, and “Believing and Shitting” – given that they were played on Mr. Dream’s recent fall tour.
