The Magnetic Fields have announced their 10th studio album, and first with Merge Records since 1999’s landmark 69 Love Songs. Titled Love at the Bottom of the Sea, the 15-track effort was recorded  in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York by mastermind Stephin Merritt and frequent collaborators Claudia Gonson, Sam Davol, John Woo, Shirley Simms, Johny Blood, and Daniel Handle. According to Merge, the end result hears the band returning to their “signature mix of synth and acoustic sounds” and no one song spans over three minutes in length.

The album will be released on March 6th. A limited-edition eggshell-colored vinyl will be available exclusively to those who pre-order the album at the Merge Records store. The first 100 people who order the album from Merge will receive a free signed poster and a Magnetic Fields button, as well.

On the day of the album’s release, The Magnetic Fields will launch a month-long U.S. tour which includes multiple nights in Seattle, Chicago, New York, and Boston, as well as an appearance at South by Southwest in Austin, TX. Check out the album’s tracklist and the band’s tour schedule below.
