As previously reported, Air‘s upcoming LP, Le Voyage Dans La Lune, was spurred on by their recent soundtrack to the French film of the same name. The 14-minute piece, directed by Georges Méliès, was originally released in 1902, but was re-discovered in the 1990s. A restored version of the film, featuring an original score by Air, was premiered in 2011 at the Cannes Film Festival, and you can now watch a scene from it it below (via NPR).
Air’s album Le Voyage Dans La Lune is out February 7th via Astralwerks. A Limited Edition set, strictly limited to just 70,000 copies worldwide, comprises the album with a bonus DVD or digital download of the restored colorized film with Air’s original film score.
