Video: Stephin Merritt – “Dream Again” (Franz Ferdinand cover)

Director Russell Weekes reignites the age-old question previously explored by Arthur C. Clarke and director Matthew Robbins (*batteries not included): “What if our machines came to life?” In his video for Stephin Merritt‘s cover of Franz Ferdinand’s “Dream Again” – stripped off this past spring’s Record Store Day exclusive Franz Ferdinand covers EP – there’s a whole lotta Walkmens, stereos, and what have you singing along. It’s like an audiophile’s version of Toy Story. This is the third video off this EP to be revealed this week, starting with Monday’s clip for LCD Soundsystem’s rendition of “Live Alone”. Check out the video for Merritt’s cover below.

The Merritt-led Magnetic Fields will release their new LP, Love at the Bottom of the Sea, on March 6th via Merge.
