We first got wind of blues rock act Alabama Shakes at last year’s CMJ Music Marathon and have been anticipating details of their debut full-length ever since. Today, we got ‘em.

Entitled Boys & Girls, the 11-track effort was self-produced and mixed by the band in The Bomb Shelter in Nashville, Tennessee. The end result will be released by ATO Records on April 10th. As an early taste, the lead single, “Hold On”, is streaming below. The album’s tracklist is after that.

In addition to the album, Alabama Shakes have teamed with Jack White for a two-song 7″ single, due out in late January on Third Man Records.

Both releases will be supported by tour dates in both the U.S. and UK, as well as an appearance at South by Southwest. You can find their current itinerary below, as well.

Just saw these guys open for Drive By Truckers at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, GA this weekend. I was BLOWN AWAY. Unreal band fronted by a 22-year-old girl who seems to be equal parts Aretha Franklin, Pops Staples and Matt “Guitar” Murphy. Don’t miss Alabama Shakes – your new favorite band!
