When Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon isn’t working on gettin’ sick delts, he’s still got his growing musical empire to attend to. In addition to his own well-received musical output and studio/compound in Wisconsin, Vernon recently announced the formation of his own label, Chigliak (yet another Northern Exposure reference).
An imprint of Jagjaguwar, the label was first introduced by Vernon back in August 2010. According to its official site, the label will release new recordings in addition to re-releasing “albums that were never commercially released or locally released and never put out on vinyl.” Chigliak’s first reissue will be It’s All Aquatic from Amateur Love, a band comprised of Megafaun members/former Vernon bandmates Brad and Phil Cook. Other acts to be featured on the label will be Bon Iver tourmate Sarah Siskind and Minnesota band 12 Rods.
Stay tuned for more info on the label and its releases. Below, watch Amateur Love perform “Con A Sewer Cat” from their live DVD Punch Me in My Dying Heart.
