Reissues of Gish and Siamese Dream weren’t the only Smashing Pumpkins-related gifts that fans received for Christmas. To celebrate the season, The Smashing Pumpkins Record Club unearthed a previously unreleased Christmas ode titled “Have Faithe, Be Merrie”. The quiet, reflective hymnal works with faint, almost brittle instrumentation, leaving Billy Corgan alone to his finer qualities – ahem, those vocals. Granted, it’s depressing to hear now given that the holidays are behind us, but to each their own. Check it out below.

In related news, the Record Club also sent out a message hyping the band’s activity for 2012, hinting: “we’ve seen songs from Pisces Iscariot, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Adore, pre Gish demos and “the Rubano Tapes” being worked on in the studio.” They also state that “there’s been some talk of a very special tour for next year.” Stay tuned as this unfolds.

Smashing Pumpkins’ forthcoming LP, Oceania, is also due for release in 2012.

So, basically, Billy’s threats of putting the old catalog to rest and only touring on new material were nothing more than that.  Great news!
