Check Out: The Doors – “She Smells So Nice” (Previously unreleased)

By Michael Roffman on January 9th, 2012 in New Music, News

L.A. Woman, The Doors‘ final album (that is, if you don’t count 1971′s Other Voices (nobody does)) was a stripped down, back to basics, blues rock album. So, it makes sense that an unreleased track culled from the LP’s sessions would be fully loaded with smokey riffs, bar room crooning, and wood-warming percussion. Titled “She Smells So Nice”, the non-Skrillex featuring track also supports the group’s forthcoming reissue of their 1971 album, due out January 24th. So, if you’re in the mood for a reckless kick in whiskey-soaked rock ‘n’ roll, check it out over on Facebook.

In related news, to further celebrate the group’s 40th anniversary, Hollywood, CA’s Egyptian Theatre will host a one-time screening of Mr. Mojo Risin’: The Story of L.A. Woman on Friday, January 20th at 7:30 p.m. PST. The new documentary features interviews with surviving members Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore, in addition to Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman, manager Bill Siddons, engineer/co-producer Bruce Botnick, et al. At the screening, there will be a special Q&A with Holzman and L.A. rock radio’s Jim Ladd. Special guests are noted to appear, as well.

L.A. Woman returns and breaks on through January 24th via Rhino Rock/Eagle Rock Entertainment.
