As previously reported, The Flaming Lips will continue their unique collaborations into the New Year. In October, Lips frontman Wayne Coyne revealed plans for an upcoming compilation featuring collaborations with Death Cab For Cutie, Nick Cave, Ghostland Observatory, and others. Now, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Coyne added Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon to that list, noting that the Wisconsin wunderkind is sending him two tracks “any day now.”
The release also appears to include tracks from the Lips’ recent collaborations with Yoko Ono and Neon Indian. In addition, Coyne stills hopes to record with Lykke Li, Erykah Badu, and Ke$ha.
Coyne had previously said that the compilation would be released in April for Record Store Day 2012. Speaking with Rolling Stone, he said he’s still aiming for an April release, however, a release date remains unconfirmed.
