Last fall, Brooklyn indie-pop act Miniature Tigers released “Boomerang”, the first track from their upcoming third album Mia Pharaoh. Now, the band has unveiled our second taste with the synth-tastic “Female Doctor”. A sizable wait between tracks, the song’s accompanying music video more than makes up for it. Especially if you’re a hypochondriac.
Sonically speaking, “Female Doctor” is bright and bubbly with lots of warm, over-sized vocals and a sheen of low-key sex appeal. They’ve managed to make something that’s simultaneously up-to-date with a slight retro vibe, like the track was taken from a European disco in the mid-’80s.
And speaking of things from Europe, video director Max Goldblatt opted to splice together footage from Eastern European reality TV, specifically shots of “busty” adult doctors/nurses torturing male patients with enema bulbs. The end result would be hilarious if it weren’t so utterly creepy and frightening. Check out the video at SPIN.com.
Mia Pharaoh hits stores on March 6th via Modern Art. We have the aforementioned “Boomerang” available to re-stream below.
