Out of nowhere, singer-songwriter Josh Ritter has announced a new EP, Bringing in the Darlings, as BPM points out. Taken from a writing session for his upcoming LP, and then recorded in Brooklyn in just three days, the six-track effort is described by Ritter as his “version of lullabies.” Each track makes use of the word darling – hence the title – and its especially unmissable in the opener Why. An unusually sparse song from the folk songwriter known for his often grand stylings, the track features a few well-plucked guitars and a fair amount of warm humming. Take a listen below.
Bringing in the Darlings will see an iTunes release on February 21st. A very limited run of CDs and 10 vinyl will also come in a variety of bundles, including limited hand-screened/numbered CDs, signed posters, and more. Pre-orders are ongoing. The tracklist is below, as well.
