gorillaz andre 3000 james murpy Update: Gorillaz team up with James Murphy, Andre 3000 for new track

How’s this for a trio? Gorillaz, James Murphy, and Andre 3000. According to The Sun‘s Bizarre blog, those are the three artists to take part in the latest installment of Converse’s “Three Artists. One Song” project. Their track, entitled “DoYaThing”, will be available on Converse’s website starting February 23rd.

Bizarre adds that “DoYaThing” has a similar beat to tracks on Gorillaz’s most recent LP, Plastic Beach, and sees Damon Albarn rapping the opening two verses. There’s also reportedly a 12-minute explicit version, which will be released at a later date.

To go along with the track, Gorillaz’s Jamie Hewlett has created a music video featuring “a baboon in a martial arts outfit and a masked topless bloke.”

Update: Check out a 30-second snippet of the track, as well as a ‘making of’ teaser trailer for the video via this widget (via Gorillaz-Unofficial).

As previously reported, Gorillaz have also teamed up with Converse to create their very own shoe line.

Dude, when you are working along side a “Hook Master” like Andre 3000 you just stay the fuck outta the way and go lay down some verses insread. Anybody working with Andre 3000 knows it’s best to let him handle anything but the rapping. It’s like working with Maceo Parker. Are really going to let him handle the sax parts? Of course not, Maceo can work out the key board parts, just as Maceo should. Lulz.

Totally psyched for this thing.
