If you believe the Internet, the 2012 Bonnaroo lineup has leaked — more than once. The days leading up to the festival’s annual lineup reveal are exhausting to say the least, yielding fake lineups printed on fake posters distributed by fake twitters. This year has been no different.
So what do we actually know ahead of tomorrow? Well, a few artists have already self-confirmed appearances, including The Word (featuring Robert Randolph, John Medeski, and North Mississippi Allstars), The Civil Wars, and Needtobreathe. Others, like Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Shins, Foster the People, and Two Door Cinema Club, have tour dates leading up to the festival.
Inforoo, Bonnaroo’s unofficial yet sanctioned message board, has been particularly active this season, solving clues distributed by a Bonnaroo-affiliated Twitter account (Battles, Mogwai) and emailing and tweeting just about every living artist. Also, the message board is home to an anonymous user named ‘insider,’ who has successfully reported the festival’s headliners in advance each of the last three years. This year, according to insider, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Phish will headline; though as of last week “you’d be shocked by what still ISN’T worked out.”
Those are the facts. Now, let’s discuss. With less than 24 hours to go until Bonnaroo reveals its 2012 bill, here’s your chance to share your last-minutes hopes and dreams, or discuss the latest rumors. Post in the comments below, and stay tuned to Consequence of Sound for any new updates.
