Indonesian-born vocalist Melati Malay of Young Magic brings us this week’s Spotify playlist. Their wonderful debut album Melt is out today, and just like the kaleidoscope of colors on the record, Malay selected a playlist based on “The Color of Sound”. Check out the playlist on Spotify and Malay’s liner notes below.
Broadcast and The Focus Group - “Will You Read Me” Bruise Purple: winds seeking solace in caves filled with bells and shells for stalactites.
Pale Saints - “Hair Shoes” - Baby Blue: one thousand pearls dripping down a monolithic waterfall
Portishead - “Small” - Beige into Plum: begging to be crushed by jewel encrusted batons.
Omar Khorshid – “Raqset El Jedane” - Brick Orange and Gold: dusty never ending alleyway, a party in the distance.
Chelsea Wolf – “Moses” - Red: A solitary robed figure with massive feet stomping around a gothic cathedral where bats tend to hide in the corner.
Slowdive - “Souvlaki Space Station” - Grey: At the edge of a cliff, rocks below and soft lazy water tempting you to jump.
David Axelrod - “Song Of Innocence”- Schoolbus Yellow: Wanderlust on that shiny day when all songbirds are released from their cages.
aarabMUZIK - “Feeling So Hood” - Neon Pink: A girl with manga eyes in a glass elevator headed to the penthouse.
