OK Go has gained a well-earned reputation for making some of the best videos around, and anyone who has ever watched one has surely wondered how they pull off such crazy concepts. (NB: Anyone who has never watched an OK Go video needs to move out from under their rock.) Well, they’re more than willing to oblige us with an explanation.
The clever quartet’s most recent visual/audio masterpiece for their song “Needing/Getting” was teased in front of 111.3 million people as part of a Chevy commercial aired during this year’s Super Bowl. Since being posted in full on YouTube on February 6th, the video has been viewed over 14 million times (!!!). In the clip, the band drives a Chevy Sonic through a two-mile course lined with over 1,000 instruments. Specially designed retractable arms attached to the vehicle play the song as they speed by. The end result is incredible to watch, and for a fascinating look at what went into making it, check out the Process of Play behind-the-scenes video below.
Process of Play is the second in a series of videos giving fans a glimpse into the making of “Needing/Getting”, with the first available on OK Go’s website. Watch the final product of all their hard work and creativity below.
