About a month ago, we posted “Fergus Falls” by Chris Porterfield, who records and performs under the moniker Field Report and cut his teeth with Wisconsin folk collective DeYarmond Edison. Now, Porterfield brings us another track, “Taking Alcatraz”, off his forthcoming July debut.

Opening with a reference to Mohawk rebel Richard Oakes, who attempted to establish an American Indian colony on Alcatraz, “Taking Alcatraz” meanders through warm guitar notes before Porterfield closes as delicately as he began, with the simple accusation, “You’re too scared.” Stream the track below and stay tuned for more information on Field Report’s first LP.
