Like his bandmate Spencer Krug, Dan Boeckner is taking advantage of Wolf Parade’s indefinite hiatus by working on various side projects. Following the release of Handsome Furs’ third LP Sound Kapital last summer, Boeckner is now focusing his efforts on the soundtrack for the upcoming film Adult World. As Exclaim points out, the film’s director, Scott Coffey, revealed Boeckner’s participation on Twitter.

According to IMDB, Adult World is about an aspiring poet (Emma Roberts) who winds up working at an adult book store. John Cusack plays her mentor. The film is due to hit theaters sometime this year.

In other film scoring news, Mogwai will contribute original music to Antony Crook’s film Hudson River Project, which follows cyclist Anthony Bowthorpe as he travels down the Hudson River in a boat constructed of garbage from the streets of New York, as Pitchfork points out. A Kickstater page is currently raising money for the project. Watch its trailer below.
