Legendary soul singer Bobby Womack is now cancer free following surgery to remove a tumor. Womack was diagnosed with colon cancer in May 2012.

A statement on Womack’s Facebook reads, “We’re delighted to announce that Bobby Womack has successfully undergone surgery for suspected colon cancer. A tumor was removed last night which turned out to be cancer free. We wish him all the best in his recovery from the operation. Thank you for all your kind messages and support.”

With the cancer behind him, Womack can now focus on The Bravest Man in the Universe, his first album in 13 years, which will see release on June 12th via XL Recordings. Below, you can listen to the single “Please Forgive My Heart”.
