Two worlds collide next year when Anthony Gonzalez (of M83) scores Tom Cruise’s next sci-fi vehicle, Oblivion. Due for theatrical release next April, the Joseph Kosinski-directed picture focuses on a veteran soldier-turned-space explorer (Cruise) sent to a distant planet to destroy the last remnants of an alien race. Sounds fitting for the sounds of M83, right?
“I’m not afraid to do my first soundtrack on a big Hollywood movie, with a big budget and a lot of pressure,” Gonzalez told The Playlist. “I like challenges and it excites me more than frightens me.”
Gonzalez previously contributed pieces of music to French director Gilles Marchand’s Black Heaven in 2010.
