After three LPs, San Francisco garage-rock crew The Fresh & Onlys spent some extra time in the studio for their latest effort, Long Slow Dance, due out September 4th via Mexican Summer. As a result, the album, produced by Drag City mainstay Phil Manley and recorded on the reel-to-reel that captured Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves of London”, has been described as “both the act’s most cohesive work to date and a sprawling selection of stoner-anthems.”
The LP’s first single, “Yes or No”, sees the band reaching that next echelon with great ease and righteous fury. Steeped in ’70s rock nostalgia, the track’s booming guitars and echoey vocals are arena-rock ready yet the song’s romantic hook and undertones of despair keep it grounded in slightly folkier realms. Stream it below.
The “Yes or No” b/w “Take Back The Night” 7″ single is out today. The band will tour in support of the record with a short West Coast leg in September, with their full itinerary listed below.
In other band-related news, lead guitarist Wymond Miles recently released his debut solo LP, Earth Has Doors, via Sacred Bones Records.
