“A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.” -Willy Wonka
Best Coast – “The Only Place”
If living in California actually is anything like what Best Coast make it out to be in their latest video, I might start believing Bethany Cosentino when she sings, “Why would you live anywhere else?”
Dirty Projectors – “Gun Has No Trigger”
Is that you Dave Longstreth? It’s hard to tell due to the fact that the Dirty Projectors spend almost the entire video in silhouette.
Eternal Summers – “Wonder”
The protagonist in this video needs to get some new friends. Why she even started hanging out with someone wearing a dress made out of clothespins in the first place is beyond me.
Fiona Apple – “Every Single Night”
Fiona Apple’s latest music video plays like a crazy acid trip from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I can’t imagine anything more frightening when you’re tripping than a 30-foot-tall snail.
Metric – “Youth Without Youth”
Metric use just about everything but the kitchen sink as props for their latest video, including a giant wedding cake, a live rabbit, some lighters, and a pile of car tires.
Passion Pit – “Take A Walk”
This video give new meaning to the phrase “follow the bouncing ball.”
Regina Spektor – “Don’t Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)”
Regina Spektor loves playing around in super-swanky NYC apartments like she’s a character in those old Eloise children’s books. Not precisely sure what’s up with the flaming miniature trumpeter though.
The Vaccines – “No Hope”
Young love can be a fickle beast, as illustrated by The Vaccines in their latest clip. Sometimes it can make you do crazy things, like jump fully-clothed into the cold English ocean.
Usher – “Scream”
Usher. In a white suit. Singing about making girls scream. Ladies, I believe that’s your cue to start swooning.
Yeasayer – “Henrietta”
Yeasayer’s press release for this video called it a “vignette to take drugs to.” Well, at least they’re honest.
