First a French robot, and now a Canadian indie-rocker: as Pitchfork points out, Broken Social Scene member Brendan Canning has been tapped to score Lindsay Lohan’s forthcoming film The Canyons. The news follows last week’s announcement of Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter scoring Lohan’s indie surf film First Point.
The Canyons is directed by Paul Schrader (American Gigolo, Adam Resurrected) and written by Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho, Less Than Zero). It tells the story of a group of wealthy, emotionally-abused 20-somethings and “how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence.” Director Gus Van Sant and male porn star James Deen will make cameos.
According to IMDB, the film is currently in production, with a release date set for sometime in 2013. A teaser trailer is available for viewing below and features a soundtrack of Dum Dum Girls’ “Coming Down”.
